Who we are

Noir Piano Salon is an immersive piano concert series where music, fashion, and atmosphere converge. Set within art galleries and intimate cultural spaces, each 45–60 minute performance invites guests into a world of sound and shadow—united by an all-black dress code that transforms the audience into part of the artwork itself. The salon centers around expressive piano performances, often joined by violinists, cellists, dancers, vocalists, and poets, creating evenings that feel both curated and alive.

Founded by pianist Blair Greene, Noir Piano Salon was created to slow time and deepen connection—between performer and listener, between strangers sharing a room, and between music and emotion. More than a concert, each salon is a gathering: a place to listen closely, dress boldly, sip thoughtfully, and leave feeling changed.

Piano

At the heart of Noir Piano Salon is the piano: expansive, intimate, and emotionally unguarded. The instrument serves as both narrator and atmosphere, guiding the emotional arc of each evening through nuance, touch, and silence as much as through sound. Performances unfold with a deep sensitivity to space and time, allowing phrases to linger, dissolve, or erupt as the moment demands. Rather than presenting the piano as spectacle, the salon treats it as a conduit—one that invites listeners inward, asking them to slow down and listen closely.

The piano anchors every collaboration within the salon, providing a foundation from which dancers move, strings converse, voices rise, and poetry breathes. Each performance is shaped not only by repertoire, but by presence: the room, the audience, and the shared stillness between notes. In this way, the piano becomes more than an instrument—it becomes the emotional center of a living, collective experience.

Dance

Dance at Noir Piano Salon exists as a physical manifestation of sound—an embodied response to the piano’s emotional terrain. Rather than functioning as accompaniment, movement becomes a parallel language, translating melody and silence into gesture, breath, and presence. Dancers inhabit the space with an acute awareness of the music’s contours, allowing each phrase to shape the weight, pace, and intention of their motion. The result is an experience that feels deeply human and immediate, where emotion is not explained but felt, shared in real time between performer and audience.

Strings

String instruments expand the sonic palette of Noir Piano Salon, introducing new textures, colors, and emotional depth. Violins, cellos, and other strings enter into close dialogue with the piano, sometimes echoing its voice, sometimes challenging it, sometimes offering quiet support beneath the surface. These collaborations feel both composed and spontaneous, allowing moments of fragility, warmth, and dramatic intensity to emerge naturally. Together, piano and strings create a sound world that is layered yet intimate—rich without excess, expressive without spectacle.

Vocals

Vocal performances bring a striking vulnerability to Noir Piano Salon, introducing language, breath, and personal narrative into the musical landscape. Whether through lyrics or wordless vocalization, the voice carries emotion in its most exposed form. Singers work in close communion with the piano, allowing phrasing and dynamics to guide expression rather than overpower it. These moments often feel confessional and intimate, drawing the audience into a shared emotional space where storytelling and sound become inseparable.

Poetry

Poetry at Noir Piano Salon functions as an intentional pause—a space where language briefly replaces melody, yet remains deeply musical. Poems are shared with care, often nestled between musical movements or gently layered within them, allowing words to resonate without urgency. These readings invite reflection and stillness, encouraging audiences to listen differently—to rhythm, meaning, and silence. Poetry deepens the salon’s emotional architecture, offering moments of clarity, ambiguity, and quiet recognition.

Partnership With HeartCharged

Each Noir Piano Salon performance proudly partners with HeartCharged, a heart-patient advocacy community founded by the sisters of dancer EB Keime. HeartCharged is dedicated to raising awareness around heart conditions and helping prevent sudden cardiac death through education, storytelling, and community connection. During our concerts, space is intentionally made to amplify their mission—reminding audiences that art has the power not only to move us emotionally, but to inspire awareness, compassion, and action beyond the performance.
